Women's Ministry

At Westminster Presbyterian Church there are many avenues for women to grow in their faith. God is calling us to be in a relationship with Him. Bible studies, fellowship times, mission activities, and circles are places where women can respond to His call. There is a place for you at WPC.

Presbyerian Women of Faith Dinner - May 13, 2010
The Presbyterian Women of Faith Dinner was held on Thursday, May 14, at 5:30 pm in Everheart Hall. This year’s honorees were thanked in a surprising way by the Rev. Jeff Conway, and a wonderful covered dish dinner was served. The Meta Thomas circle hosted this event, and this past year’s activities were highlighted.  The two recipients for the 2010 Women of Faith award were LaDon Paige and Nedra Swenson. After a brief word from Rev. Jeff Conway about each lady they were honored with beautiful travel bags. Everyone is on a journey of faith and the colorful bags were to assist these women in their journeys as well as other travels.

Mom to Mom

 Summer Camp Fun

Bring sunscreen, tennis shoes and a playful attitude to church on Sunday, April 25 as our family of God shares in a hamburger cookout and games after worship. Summer Camp Fun is the theme for a the church-wide cookout and family fun day on Sunday, April 25.
Everyone from two to ninety two can enjoy the fun with activities for all ages. Hamburgers will be served on the patio with a pie baking contest for a sweet ending to lunch. The church’s annual meeting will be during the lunch. Games such as three-legged race, egg races and bean bag tossing will be just a few of the fun activities. And, what is camp without s’mores!
The Mom to Mom ministry is hosting the lunch and game day. Instead of pot luck, people are asked to help provide hamburger patties, buns, tomatoes, lettuce, condiments and chips. We will also need marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate bars. There will also be a donation basket available to help defray the cost of the lunch.
Make plans now to attend!

Canadian Retreat May 1-2 2010

Mark your calendars now for the women’s spring retreat in Canadian, Texas, May 1 and 2. The Canadian Ministerial Alliance is presenting “Beautiful Women Coming Together”, a women’s conference featuring Sheila Walsh, a unique combination of author, speaker, worship leader, television talk show host and Bible teacher.
Westminster has purchased 20 tickets to this event.  Please sign up on the list at the Welcome Center or with Candace in the church office. The tickets cost $15 and are available on a first come first serve basis. All other expenses such as meals, lodging and gas will be paid individually.
We plan to travel to Canadian on Saturday morning, and be at the conference by 8:30am. The event is over at 3:00 pm on Saturday, and then we can prowl around Canadian, all eat dinner together at one of the great restaurants there, spend the night, worship at the Presbyterian church in Canadian, and then come back to Amarillo. Details about the things to do in Canadian, food and lodging are available in the church office.
This is a great opportunity to hear a fabulous speaker that combines honesty, vulnerability and humor rooted in a passion for God’s Word. If you have any further questions, contact Kellie Rogers, 206-6644 or Lawanna Pulliam, 358-4278.

Prayer Retreat - 2009

The women's Prayer Retreat in October 2009 was wonderful. The retreat at Carol Thomas' Lake Tanglewood home was filled with great hospitality, fellowship and food . LaDon Paige led a study on "The Armor of God" and encouraged everyone to be prepared for anything that might come our way.

Friends in Christ LaDon Great food too!

Eleven women traveled to Oklahoma City, October 30-31, 2009 for the Women of Faith conference. They heard wonderful speakers and great music--including Steven Curtis Chapman. The theme of the event was "A Grand New Day" based on Lamentations 3:22. Wonderful fellowship and lots of cheesecake rounded out the inspiring weekend.
